Bishops Stortford Golf Club is one of Hertfordshire’s premier golf and hospitality destinations, providing members and visitors with a welcoming clubhouse experience complemented by its highly regarded golf facilities. Excite Technology was selected to design, supply, install, and commission a new large-format display along with a premium-quality audio solution.

The Client

Bishops Stortford Golf Club is one of Hertfordshire’s leading golf and hospitality venues, offering members and guests a welcoming clubhouse environment alongside its renowned golf facilities.

The Gilby Bar serves as a focal point for members and visitors, providing a space to relax, socialise and enjoy major sporting events throughout the year. To enhance the viewing experience and modernise the venue, the club sought to upgrade its existing display and audio systems.

Excite Technology was appointed to supply, install and commission a new large-format display and premium audio solution.

A modern lounge at Bishops Stortford Golf Club features teal chairs, wooden tables, and wall plaques. Light fittings hang from the ceiling, double doors are centred, and large windows let in natural light from the right—creating a warm and inviting space for golf enthusiasts in Hertfordshire.

The Challenge

The existing display within the Gilby Bar was no longer providing the immersive viewing experience expected by members, particularly during major sporting events such as golf tournaments, football matches, rugby internationals and other televised events.

The club required a solution that would create a more impactful viewing experience, improve audio clarity, deliver cinema-style sound, integrate with Sky TV and maintain a professional appearance.

Our Solution

Following a site survey and consultation with the club, Excite Technology designed a complete TV and audio upgrade focused on enhancing the member experience.

The installation included a 100-inch Hisense 4K Ultra HD display, heavy-duty commercial mounting system, Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar, Sonos Sub 4 wireless subwoofer, HDMI ARC integration and full system commissioning.

A large flat-screen TV is wall-mounted in a room with green walls and a high ceiling, reminiscent of the lush fairways at Bishops Stortford Golf Club in Hertfordshire. An orange panel leans below the TV, and a cable runs from the TV to the ceiling.

The Outcome

The completed upgrade transformed the Gilby Bar into a far more engaging space for members and visitors. Benefits included:

The Installation

The installation was led by Carl Rolando, one of Excite Technology’s senior installation engineers, who managed the on-site delivery of the project from start to finish.Working closely with Bishops Stortford Golf Club, Carl and the installation team coordinated the upgrade to minimise disruption to members whilst ensuring the highest standards of workmanship.

The works included removal of the existing display, installation of the new 100-inch screen, Sonos sound system installation, Sky TV integration, Wi-Fi configuration, testing and commissioning. The installation was completed successfully in March 2026.
