Although the music streaming service remained operational, the store’s background audio system had failed due to a fault within the installed equipment. Excite Technology was tasked with diagnosing the issue, recommending the most effective solution, and restoring the system to full operation.
Project Overview
Excite Technology Ltd was appointed by ML Projects to investigate an audio system fault at the Givenchy Boutique within Bicester Village.
The store’s background music system had stopped functioning despite the music streaming service remaining operational, indicating a fault within the installed audio equipment. Our role was to diagnose the issue, recommend the most appropriate solution and restore the audio system to full operation.

System Features
- Professional fault diagnosis and system testing.
- Inspection and cleaning of installed rack equipment.
- Full audio signal path testing.
- Bose DesignMax loudspeaker system assessment.
- Replacement amplifier specification.
- Ecler AURA-8L150 professional multi-channel amplifier.
- Commissioning and performance testing.
The Challenge
The boutique relied on its background music system to enhance the customer experience throughout the store. Initial investigations by the music service provider confirmed that the streaming platform was operating correctly, suggesting the fault was likely to be within the local audio equipment.
The existing installation comprised Bose DesignMax loudspeakers, a Rotel RMB-1506 multi-channel amplifier, a Waves System AP420 media player and a QED line-level volume controller. The system required a thorough inspection to determine whether the issue could be resolved through repair or if replacement equipment would be necessary.
Our Solution
Working on behalf of ML Projects, Excite Technology proposed a structured fault-finding visit to inspect, test and assess the complete audio system.
Our engineers carried out a full inspection of the equipment rack, cleaned the installed equipment, tested the audio signal path, checked the operation of the media player and amplifier, inspected cabling and loudspeaker circuits, and identified any faulty components.
Where replacement equipment was required, we recommended upgrading the existing amplifier to an Ecler AURA-8L150, providing a modern, reliable solution fully suited to commercial background music applications.
The Installation
Our engineers worked closely with ML Projects to investigate the fault and minimise disruption to the client’s operation.
Following a methodical testing process, the system was assessed and recommendations provided for the most effective long-term solution. Where required, replacement equipment was selected to maintain system reliability while ensuring compatibility with the existing loudspeaker installation.
The Result
By providing a structured fault-finding service and recommending a suitable commercial-grade replacement amplifier, Excite Technology helped ensure the boutique could quickly return its background music system to normal operation.
The project demonstrates our experience in supporting contractors and retail clients with professional audio maintenance, fault diagnosis and system upgrades across the UK.
