Pizza Pilgrims is a leading independent UK pizza restaurant brand, renowned for authentic Neapolitan pizza and a vibrant dining experience. For the launch of its new Glasgow restaurant on West Nile Street, the brand required a complete technology solution. The project included customer audio, CCTV security, and specialist kitchen display systems.
The Client
Pizza Pilgrims is one of the UK’s most recognisable independent pizza restaurant brands, known for its vibrant atmosphere, authentic Neapolitan pizza and immersive dining experiences.
As part of the launch of their Glasgow restaurant on West Nile Street, Pizza Pilgrims required a complete technology package covering customer audio, CCTV security and specialist kitchen display systems to support both operations and customer engagement.
Excite Technology was appointed to design, supply, install and commission the systems, ensuring all technologies worked seamlessly together within the new venue.
The Challenge
Launching a new hospitality venue involves far more than simply installing speakers and cameras. Pizza Pilgrims required a fully integrated technology solution that would:
- Create the vibrant atmosphere the brand is known for.
- Provide reliable background music throughout the restaurant.
- Support live DJ performances and special events.
- Deliver comprehensive CCTV coverage across customer and staff areas.
- Integrate a dedicated Chefcam experience for guests.
- Provide a dedicated Deliveroo monitoring solution.
- Be easy for restaurant staff to operate on a daily basis.
- Be installed and commissioned within a tight project programme alongside other trades.
The challenge was to ensure all systems worked together whilst maintaining the aesthetic and operational requirements of a busy modern restaurant.
Our Solution
Excite Technology designed and delivered a complete hospitality technology package comprising three key systems:
Professional Audio System
To create the lively and energetic atmosphere expected within Pizza Pilgrims venues, a multi-zone audio system was installed throughout the restaurant. The system included:
- Ecler DAM614 Audio Processor.
- Ecler AURA 2B600 Amplifier.
- 8 x Ecler eMOTUS loudspeakers covering the main restaurant.
- 4 x Ecler IC6i ceiling loudspeakers serving ancillary areas.
- Startle music system integration.
- Dedicated DJ input connectivity.
- Independent volume control stations for staff.
The result was consistent, high-quality background music coverage throughout the venue,with the flexibility to adjust levels according to trading periods and events.
CCTV Security System
Security and operational monitoring were equally important for the new site. Excite Technology upgraded and commissioned the CCTV infrastructure using existing camera assets whilst implementing a new recording and monitoring solution. The system included:
- New Hikvision 16-channel DVR platform.
- 12TB surveillance storage.
- Monitoring display and rack-mounted equipment.
- Integration with 14 existing cameras.
- Coverage across customer, staff and back-of-house areas.
This approach allowed Pizza Pilgrims to maximise the value of existing infrastructure whilstbenefiting from a modern recording and management platform.
Chefcam & Deliveroo Monitoring Systems
A unique element of the project was the installation of dedicated visual systems designed to support both customer engagement and operational efficiency.
The Chefcam solution allows guests to view food preparation activity, helping to reinforce the theatre and authenticity associated with the Pizza Pilgrims brand. The Deliveroo monitoring system was installed to support delivery operations, providing dedicated monitoring and management capabilities for takeaway services. The installation included:
- Dedicated Hikvision recording platforms.
- Network infrastructure.
- HDMI over Cat6 distribution.
- Dedicated displays and monitoring screens.
- Camera installation and commissioning.
- Integration within the main communications infrastructure.
These systems provide operational visibility whilst enhancing the overall customer experience.
The Installation
Excite Technology worked closely with the principal contractor and other trades to design, install, integrate and commission all technology systems for the project.
The scope included customer audio, CCTV, network infrastructure, Chefcam and Deliveroo monitoring systems, alongside staff training and final handover.
Careful coordination throughout the installation ensured all systems were delivered on schedule and fully operational for the restaurant’s opening.
