West Herts Golf Club, Hertfordshire

Transforming their Golf Club from a quiet traditional club with very little AV systems in place into a modern-day venue with a multi-zone touchscreen operated mid-foreground music system, microphone system and Sky TV system with split screens for multiple room viewing.
The legendary figure of Old Tom Morris came down from St Andrews to lay out the new course, but he did not include the siting of bunkers. This was done three months later by five times Open Champion J.H. Taylor.
The clubhouse was in Rickmansworth Road, on the site now occupied by Watford Boys Grammar School, and there were four holes to the east of the canal.
Revitalizing West Herts Golf Club: A Modern AV Transformation
Over recent years the Club has completed an extensive programme of capital investment on improvements to the course, clubhouse and practice facilities. This is an approach that the Club aim to continue in order to maintain the facilities at a premium level for our members.
Set in beautiful surroundings, the course is varied and interesting, with every hole presenting a new vista and a new challenge. The fine parkland turf makes the fairways a delight to play on and the sub-soil of gravel over chalk ensures excellent drainage. Our greens receive near-universal praise from our members and visitors.
Excite were invited to put a proposal forward for the AV upgrade works within the clubhouse, as part of the rebuild of West Herts Golf Club.

The main objective for the club was to have a mid-foreground zonal music system with the capabilities to have a wireless microphone system for speeches and quiz nights.
We achieved this with Ecler head end equipment, quality Ecler speakers and system 10 microphones.
They also wanted to distribute the SKY TV signal around the clubhouse to two screens and a roll in trolley screen that could be moved to different rooms. The audio from the Sky also was a requirement to come through the speakers for live sports events.
This was achieved within the timeframe; the management loved the new system as did the staff who find the system very user friendly compared to their old system.
The clubhouse is now a lively vibrant place to socialise with great music, live sport, food and drinks.
Gareth, an avid golfer from Excite AV asked Johnathan the General Manager how the systems have helped with customers using the facilities for longer period of times and he said…
“The vibe has changed around the place with the addition of a quality audio system, multiple rooms with screens to watch live sports and the ability to hold classy events using the mics. Thanks to Excite AV for helping us create a great clubhouse.”
