Project Overview

Bermondsey Bierkeller is one of London’s leading sports and entertainment venues, regularly hosting live football, major sporting events and large customer gatherings across its expansive bar and seating areas.

With more than 20 screens located throughout the venue, the ability to reliably distribute live sporting content is critical to the customer experience. However, the existing video distribution system had become increasingly unreliable, causing signal issues and operational challenges for venue staff.

Excite Technology was approached to design and implement a robust solution that would not only resolve the existing issues but also provide the flexibility required for future events and venue growth.

The Challenge

The venue’s existing HDMI distribution system had become a constant source of frustration. Staff were experiencing intermittent signal failures, unreliable screen performance and difficulties routing content around the building.

During major sporting events, these issues created unnecessary operational pressure and risked negatively impacting the customer experience. The client required a system capable of reliably distributing live sports broadcasts throughout the venue, supporting more than 20 displays, allowing any source to be routed to any screen, providing simple operation for venue staff and supporting future expansion.

World Cup Enhancement

During the project, the client identified an opportunity to further enhance the viewing experience ahead of the World Cup. Excite Technology subsequently designed and installed a large-format projector and screensolution, creating an impressive focal point for customers during live football matches andother major sporting events.

Our Solution

Following a detailed consultation and site survey, Excite Technology designed and installed a fully networked HDMI Over IP video distribution system.

The new system allows any video source within the building to be distributed to any screen throughout the venue, providing complete control over what content is shown and where. The installation included HDMI Over IP video distribution infrastructure, network-based signal distribution, multi-screen routing capabilities, centralised management and a future-proof system architecture.

The Result

The completed projector system exceeded the client’s expectations and was delivered intime for the World Cup. The new 125-inch projection system created a true focal point within the venue, significantly enhancing the match-day experience for customers while complementing the existing network of screens throughout the Bierkeller.

The installation now provides a reliable and engaging viewing solution for football, rugby, boxing, Formula 1 and other major sporting events throughout the year.
